just been watching hard candy with my dad and he didn't like the ending
said he didn't see how such a nasty guy would suddenly just kill himself
and i tried to explain that it was because he loved the woman
but john said he was too nasty to love anyone that much
and i said it wasn't about how much he loved her, he just loved her enough to... not so much 'care' what she thought... but to want to save her from what/who he is
and then i got a quote stuck in my head and i can't figure out where it's from
i said something about nobody ever thinks they're a bad person...
and i was trying to explain to my dad that the guy in the film didn't have to think about what he was doing while he was by himself, away from everyone in his house
he didn't think he was a bad person...
but no-one wants to hear the one person you love more than anything else in the world tell you you are actually a freak
it makes it true
which is why he killed himself
and which is also why i think dexter did very well to get over the fact harry killed himself, pretty much confirming that dexter too was a freak
i hate that word
but i do love that film
what am i talking about?
on a completely different note [well, hopefully a different, non-suicide-related note] i'm worried about james
